Code named Operation Typhoon, the Germans' final offensive towards Moscow drove up the Volokolamsk Highway as yard by yard the Soviets gave ground. The grudging defense, along with the snow and mud, took a heavy toll on the Germans, but they were able to bring up supplies and reinforcements as the ground froze in mid-November. When the lead tanks of the 4th Panzer Division were spotted just northwest of Moscow, the 1st Guards Tank Brigade rushed in to set up positions to slow them down.
Objectives: Delay the advancing Germans from the southwest from getting to the village behind your current position.
